Business Intelligence Engineer

Twine is a mobile data platform that works with app publishers who generate mobile data and the apps, agencies, brands, and ad tech companies who need that data for mobile ad targeting.  We provide app publishers with a platform to safely generate user insights and an incremental revenue stream while delivering mobile marketers high quality mobile data that boosts campaign ROI.

We are experiencing great momentum and are ready to expand our team.  Our Business Intelligence Engineer  will be the next addition to our engineering staff in Los Angeles and will report directly to the CTO.


As a member of the engineering team you will be responsible for designing and implementing data analytics tools for both internal and external users.  You will get an opportunity to provide data analytics and insights into large data sets generated by mobile applications, including location, identity, and other attributes. You will be involved in building front-end visualization components, as well as involved in design and implementation of back-end applications feeding our data analysis tools and data processing pipelines.  You will develop domain expertise in mobile data and generate key insights that will influence business decisions and technological solutions.

  • Extract data from large-scale databases and transform it into actionable business information.
  • Design, validate, propose, and implement new metrics that feed business reporting and decision cycles.
  • Implement deliverables according to written specifications.
  • Develop internal and external dashboards,  provide 24×7 visibility into data flows to business stakeholders and our partners.
  • Timely delivery of critical metrics and alerts to internal teams and external clients.
  • Provide business development and product teams with  data insights.
  • Proactively identify  data quality and and data flow issues  and communicate them to business and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with data and software engineers on development and operation of our data processing toolset.
  • Ensure stability and reliability of data tools, and guarantee accuracy of performed analysis and provided data insights.



  • Ability to work in a fast-moving high-growth environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Experience building data products for reporting or modeling purpose.
  • Working experience with SQL. Joins, aggregations, nested queries, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Redshift and Chartio are a big plus.
  • Mongo Query Language.
  • Must be familiar with Linux shell, some shell scripting experience.
  • Mobile app development experience is a BIG plus.
  • Ability to develop and deploy data analysis scripts and pipelines using Python and/or Java.
  • Experience working with structured data sets, data analysis.
  • Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts (classification, regression, clustering, cross validation, model evaluation).
  • Successful candidate must be open to learning and using new tools quickly and efficiently.
